Annual chimney cleaning — the most important thing you can do for fireplace safety.
Chimney cleaning removes the creosote, soot, and debris that build up inside your flue every time you burn wood. Creosote is flammable and is the leading cause of chimney fires. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends annual chimney inspections and cleaning as needed — most wood-burning fireplaces that see regular use need cleaning every season.
Schedule ServiceWe start with a camera inspection to see the full condition of your flue. Then we brush the flue from top to bottom, clear any blockages, remove all debris, and vacuum the firebox clean. We show you the camera footage before and after so you can see exactly what was done. Most cleanings take 1–2 hours.
If you burn wood regularly, annual cleaning is the standard recommendation. Gas fireplaces produce less creosote but still need annual inspection. If you've recently moved into a home with a fireplace, we recommend an inspection and cleaning before the first use to find any issues the previous owners may not have known about.
Creosote is a byproduct of burning wood. It accumulates inside your flue as smoke cools and condensates on the liner. Stage 1 creosote is a light flaky residue. Stage 2 is a harder, tar-like buildup. Stage 3 is a thick, glazed coating that is extremely difficult to remove and highly flammable. Annual cleaning keeps creosote from progressing to dangerous levels.
Most chimney cleanings take 1 to 2 hours. We include a camera inspection at the start and finish, which gives you a full picture of your flue's condition.

Yes — a chimney that has been unused can still accumulate blockages from debris, animal nests, or deteriorating masonry. We recommend an inspection and cleaning before resuming use.
